Protecting Your Email

Just like texting, emails are becoming more and more common in today’s world as a way of communication. Whether it is for business or personal, our emails can contain a lot of sensitive material and information. We can all remember times when a spam email came in, we thought it was real and clicked the link shared in the email. The sudden feeling of dread is the first thing that comes to us. We worry if we have been compromised, or worse, our identity has been stolen. Sometimes we just do not know what to do with ourselves.

Knowing What to Do

When an email gets spammed, it is smart to remember that this isn’t the first time this has happened and most likely will not be the last. The smartest thing we could do is let everyone know that our email has been hacked and not to open anything sent from that email address. It may seem like a chore, but we will be saving a lot of people from that same hassle we are going through. The next thing to do is to make sure everything else on the computer is running fine. We do not want to go on another app and find that the hacker or virus has spread on the computer. If worse comes to worst, we can always call a tech guy. They will know what to do and how to eradicate the hacker and virus. It may cost some money, but it will be worth it in the end and save us from an even bigger headache.

How to Prevent Email Scams

There are many methods that we can go about when trying to prevent email scams to infest our computers. The easiest and safest option is to not open any email from an unknown sender. If we happen to open that email, we definitely do not want to click on any link in that email. There can be emails from people we know that are spammed. A simple way to avoid these is if the email looks fishy and not like something they would send, play it safe, and delete the email. We can then reach out and ask if they actually sent that email. Of course, as always, we can reach out to the professionals and see what they recommend. There are antivirus programs, spam folders, and maybe they can install mail server security. There are a lot of things experts can do and we need to trust them and learn!

In the end, protecting our emails is paramount to making sure our personal and private information does not get out and into the wrong hands. We now live in a world where almost everything is done online. Unfortunately, that means there are people out there who are going to whatever it takes to steal whatever info they can get their hands on. It is up to us to know how to protect our computers and info. It’s imperative!
